Taiwanese fruits blazon China Airlines jet as it glides toward CKS from France
The Council of Agriculture and China Airlines have commissioned 3M to paste the exterior of a jet with the image of well-noted Taiwanese fruits. Lychee, pineapple, banana, mango, wax apple, star fruit, date, papaya, and tangerine fruits decorate the airplane, which should arrive in Taiwan on June 22 from France, where the 3M makeover took place. After the jet makes its maiden flight, it shall soar around the world to draw attention to the leading position Taiwanese fruits have in the world market.
The Council said Taiwan’s geographic location, with its combination of tropical, subtropical, and temperate climates, is what makes it a special place for the growth and export of a diverse varieties of tropical and subtropical fresh fruits.
In addition to its hard-working farmers, its fruit production has helped, aside from providing vital nutrients and flavor to the local diet, Taiwan fruits has added as much as NT$2.5 billion annually of foreign exchange to Taiwan’s coffers thanks to the efforts of exporters. As a result, Taiwanese fruits appear in the kitchens and dining rooms of 80 countries. Such an achievement has not simply increased the income of farmers—it also has demonstrated the industriousness of Taiwan’s farmers and exporters.
The Council said that it will continue to promote with effective and diversified marketing measures in order to enhance the international reputation of the Taiwan’s quality fruits. The plane with colored fruits, is a flying ambassador of goodwill for Taiwanese fruits. Shortly after the plane touches down in CKS International Airport, it will fly to Japan on the June 28 then to Singapore July 4. It then flies to other destinations, including Vienna, Jakarta, Bangkok, Seoul and Abu Dhabi. The jet will also touch down in other important European and Asian cities.
