Taiwan and Kosovo convened agricultural ministerial virtual meeting to deepen agricultural cooperation and exchanges between the two countries
Chen Chi-chung, Minister of Taiwan’s Council of Agriculture(COA), and Faton Peci, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Rural Development of the Republic of Kosovo, convened a bilateral ministerial virtual meeting on July 13. Besides exchanging views on the current situation and future prospects for agriculture in Taiwan and Kosovo, the two sides reached consensus on the deepening of agricultural cooperation and exchanges between the two countries. Minister Chen and Minister Peci agreed to establish an agricultural working group as soon as possible to discuss areas of potential bilateral agricultural cooperation, especially the fields of smart agriculture, agro-tourism, agricultural materials, irrigation, and agricultural investment. At the same time the two sides will establish an agricultural dialogue mechanism in order to facilitate implementation of relevant programs and tasks.
The COA states that during the meeting, Minister Peci expressed his praise at the high level of development of agriculture in Taiwan, especially in applications in areas such as agricultural science and technology, machinery, and water conservancy, and hoped that the Taiwan experience can assist his country in upgrading agricultural production and farmers’ incomes. Minister Chen and Minister Peci both have high expectations for deepening agricultural cooperation and exchanges, and agreed to invite non-governmental stakeholders including agribusinesses and farmers’ organizations to participate in order to achieve a comprehensive improvement of Taiwan-Kosovo bilateral agricultural relations.
