Explanation of the Organization of the MOA

1. The Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) includes the Department of Planning, Department of Resources Sustainability, Department of Farmers’ Service, Department of Animal Industry, Department of Animal Welfare, Department of Agricultural Science and Technology, Department of International Affairs, Department of Information Technology, Secretariat, Department of Personnel, Department of Government Ethics, Department of Accounting, Department of Statistics, and Department of Legal Affairs. All of these organizations are subdivided into sections in order to meet operational needs.
2. The MOA has 15 third level subsidiary organizations and nine fourth level organizations directly subordinate to the MOA, as well as 31 fourth level organizations subordinate to third level organizations, for a total of 54 subordinate organizations.
3. Third level agencies subordinate to the MOA include the Agriculture and Food Agency, Fisheries Agency, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Agency, Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency, Agency of Rural Development and Soil and Water Conservation, Irrigation Agency, Agricultural Finance Agency, and Agricultural Technology Park Administration Center, while third level institutes subordinate to the MOA include the Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute, Taiwan Forestry Research Institute, Fisheries Research Institute, Taiwan Livestock Research Institute, Veterinary Research Institute, Agricultural Chemicals Research Institute, and the Taiwan Biodiversity Research Institute.
4. Fourth level organizations directly subordinate to the MOA include the Taoyuan District Agricultural Research and Extension Station, Miaoli District Agricultural Research and Extension Station, Taichung District Agricultural Research and Extension Station, Tainan District Agricultural Research and Extension Station, Kaohsiung District Agricultural Research and Extension Station, Hualien District Agricultural Research and Extension Station, Taitung District Agricultural Research and Extension Station, Tea and Beverage Research Station, and Taiwan Seed Improvement and Propagation Station.
5. Fourth level organizations subordinate to third level agencies include the Northern Region Branch, Central Region Branch, Southern Region Branch, and Eastern Region Branch of the Agriculture and Food Agency; the Fishery Radio Station of the Fisheries Agency; the Keelung Branch, Taoyuan Branch, Taichung Branch, and Kaohsiung Branch of the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Agency; the Hsinchu Branch, Taichung Branch, Nantou Branch, Chiayi Branch, Pingtung Branch, Taitung Branch, Hualien Branch, Yilan Branch, Aerial Survey and Remote Sensing Branch, and Alishan Forest Railway and Cultural Heritage Office of the Forestry and Nature Conservation Agency; and the Taipei Branch, Taichung Branch, Nantou Branch, Tainan Branch, Taitung Branch, and Hualien Branch of the Agency of Rural Development and Soil and Water Conservation.
6. Fourth level organizations subordinate to third level institutes include the Chiayi Agricultural Experiment Branch, Fengshan Tropical Horticultural Experiment Branch, and Floricultural Experiment Branch under the Taiwan Agricultural Research Institute; and the Northern Region Branch, Southern Region Branch, and Eastern Region Branch of the Taiwan Livestock Research Institute.
