1. The third annual meeting of the Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission (WCPFC) approved that Taiwan’s catch quota for big-eye tuna remain 15,800 tons plus.

2. An exhibition of high-quality goods produced by farmers’ and fishermen’s associations was conducted so to assist them in establishing marketing platform.

3. The national eco-film festival was organized to present Taiwan’s nature beauty.

4. The awarding ceremony for the 2006 outstanding agricultural experts took place.

5. The Internet voting of the ten outstanding farming and fishing villages was held, and related photo shots solicited.

6. The awarding ceremony was held for the 2006 ten outstanding agricultural production and marketing groups.

7. The 2006 farm wineries and the winners of wine testing contest were presented to the public.

8. The awarding ceremony was conducted for the best performing agricultural extension organization as part of the drive to improve the efficiency and effect of agricultural extension organizations.

9. The regulation on the installment of monitoring systems on longline vessels of 20-100 tons and trawlers over 100 tons was implemented.

14. The benchmark for interest subsidies of the policy-oriented agricultural specialized loans provided by the farmers’ and fishermen’s associations was reduced from 5.5% to 5.375% of annual interest rate. This applies to loan applications initiated on and after 1 August 2007.

15. The guaranteed price procurement of the second rice crop for 2006 was completed. In total, 74,969 tons of paddy rice were procured. For the whole year, 245,659 tons of rice was procured as public grains, and 1,052 tons of rice as damaged crops caused by natural disasters.

16. The 24 th Taiwanese-German-Association for Economic and Social Research Board Meeting took place.
