Head lettuce shapes like a ball, prefers cool environment around 15~20°C. Taiwan's sub-tropical mountain range area is very suitable for its development. Now through professional large scale plantation has become a major product in the high mountain-region.

Taiwan's head lettuce has two types, one has tighter packed leaves, weigh from 600g to 800g; the other is smaller yet softer with thinner leaves, easy to package without any damage.

Head lettuce is not easy to grow in lower elevation. As Taiwan has many niches in geographical profiles, head lettuce has become a major produce.
