COA donates native chickens to orphanages for Chinese New Year
After the donations of premium domestic fresh milk and CAS agricultural products, COA donated on January 2006 a total of 2006 kg of native chickens to 40 orphanages across the island, and a total of 4,012 kg of native chicken will be donated to these orphanages within 2 weeks. COA Minster enjoyed having orphanages participate in the press conference for the event Love in Cold Winter and Good Chickens for Warmth and the COA year-end party held on January 11. Minister wanted those abandoned children to enjoy premium chickens, good grades in school, and a Happy Chinese New Year. At the press conference, Chef Jeng Yen-ji of Ambassador Hotel also displayed his creative Golden Chicken Menu for the Chinese New Year and showed the public how to prepare healthy and exquisite New Year dishes at home.
According to Minister since the COA launched the donation of fresh milk and CAS agricultural products to domestic children’s welfare organizations in 2004, over 50,000 students have benefited from the donation over the past 2 years. Seeing that winter is the best season for tonic, the COA organized the Love in Cold Winter and Good Chickens for Warmth event in the beginning of 2006 to donate 2,006 kg of native chicken products to 40 orphanages registered at the Children’s Bureau, Ministry of the Interior. The event will last for 2 weeks until the Spring Festival, and a total of 4,012 kg of native chicken products will be donated to let orphans feel the concern and warmth of the government before the Chinese New Year.
COA also pointed out that all chicken products donated to orphanages are premium Taiwan Golden Chicken products. All chickens are supplied and delivered by the Poultry Association of the Republic of China and the Poultry Sale and Development Association of the Republic of China. The slaughter, cutting and processing work will be done by CAS-certified suppliers. All processes comply with slaughtering hygiene inspection rules and food hygiene and safety regulations. Therefore, the event symbolizes the participation of the upstream and downstream native chicken industry and manifests its concern for orphans. Besides presented the premium Taiwan Golden Chicken to representatives of orphanages, representatives of the industry and Minister presented at the press conference a huge Taiwan Golden Chicken doll to orphans from the ZhongYi Orphanage who gave a performance at the conference. COA hopes that these orphans who are at the golden time of growth can receive golden nutrition and health.
COA said they hoped that the activities to spread love to the society of such kind be an example to attract more people to follow, so that more people could devote themselves to charitable works for society and the health of nationals. Whether it was sending native chickens or anything thing else, COA would continue to spread love and concern to wherever it is needed.
