TAP Stamp: Seal of Top Quality Food Ingredients  


  The inauguration state banquet of President Tsai Ing-wen used safe, sustainable, transparency, and traceable TAP agro-products, which in turn boosted the sales of TAP products in the market. But how accessible are TAP products to the general public you may ask. The answer is actually very simple: just look for the TAP mark when purchasing agricultural products, or order meals prepared with TAP ingredients at any TAP restaurant and you too can experience the excellent food quality fit for state banquet.

Without official certification, products cannot be claimed to be TAP nor use the TAP mark

  The Council of Agriculture (COA) stated that the TAP is a rigorous production management and product certification system that safeguards consumers’ interests. Ensuring food safety and sustainable development of the environment are the principal requirements for any production and sales operation. Furthermore, product safety is guaranteed through auditing and test procedures. In order for the consumer to purchase the authentic TAP products, those non-TAP products that show or make use of the terms 產銷履歷, 生產履歷, 履歷驗證, 履歷認證, TAP, or TGAP on their label, display, or advertisement, are punishable by fines of up to NT$300,000 according to the Agricultural Production and Certification Act. Moreover, using the TAP mark without certification may face fines of up to NT$1 million; therefore the authorities advise businesses not to break the law.

Retail TAP agro-products are required to use TAP stamps which show trace code and information to the public

  In order to facilitate the identification of TAP for the consumers as well as to achieve complete implementation on TAP batch management and open information principle, TAP products on display must show all of the following: the mark, trace code, web link that leads to open information, name of product, and certification body at all times. Particularly, the unique trace code on every product can be used not only to verify the production information, but also to control total quantity as well as to prevent counterfeit. Moreover, most TAP products provide QR codes on the packaging, allowing consumers to access detailed information about the batch including the producer's information, certification information, production records, harvest records, shipment records, among others by using their mobile devices.

   The COA reiterated that the TAP system is not merely enabling consumers to get closer to the production process and the producers but also safeguarding their safety and sustainable value through an international third-party certification system. The Council urges consumers to choose TAP products and in turn support TAP producers.
